Where Are BMW Models Made?

On June 23, 1992, BMW Group announced its first full manufacturing facility outside of Germany in Spartanburg, South Carolina. At the same time, the company pledged to invest $600 million to employ 2,000 associates by the year 2000 and attract at least nine suppliers to the state. This was considered one of the fastest factory start-ups in automotive history. It only took a record 23 months from site groundbreaking to produce the first BMW vehicle. Fast forward over two decades later: the BMW Group has invested over $11.4 billion, and the Spartanburg Plant has gone through five major expansions.
